Abhishek and Aishwarya made their first public appearance after their wedding at the Cannes. The 60th Cannes Film Festival opened with the screening of My Blueberry Nights on 16 May 2007. Amongst the celebrities that walked the red carpet was Bollywood star Aishwarya Bachchan née Rai.

The first time Aishwarya attended Cannes was in 2002 when her film Devdas was given a special screening at the festival. In 2003 she returned as part of the jury. Since then she has attended the festival as a representative of French cosmetic brand L'Oreal.

This year Cannes was different for the recently married Aishwarya because she had her husband, Abhishek, to escort her on the red carpet.

Aishwarya walked the red carpet beaming in a beautiful white dress, a heavy diamond necklace and carrying a glittering white clutch. Unfortunately for her, the ruched fabric of her designer dress failed to conceal a bump in her belly and her eye make-up was too loud. In contrast, Abhishek looked charming and relaxed in black tuxedos. Following the screening of the film Aishwarya and Abhishek attended an after party organized by StudioCanal, in collaboration with Louis Vuitton. Other celebrities such as Jude Law, Norah Jones, Andie MacDowell and Faye Dunaway joined the event.

Another Bollywood star who caught attention on the opening night of the festival was Preity Zinta who was there to promote luxury watch and jewellery manufacturer Chopard.

This year, several Indian films will be in focus in the 'Tous les Cinemas du Monde' (All the Cinemas of the World) section, which begins on May 19. Films like 'Lage Raho Munnabhai', 'Guru', 'Dosar' and some regional films will be screened in this section.

Ash and Abhi will be present during the screening of 'Guru' on Sunday. Ash will also promote her upcoming movie 'Jodha Akbar'.Amitabh Bachchan will be promoting his film 'Cheeni Kum' at the fest. This is Big B's first visit to Cannes. 'Cheeni Kum' will be screened in the Film Market section.Even John Abraham and Bipasha Basu will be flying to Cannes to promote UTV's movie 'Goal'.

The Cannes Film Festival will end on May 27.
